Profile

Julie Heistermann earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Southern California. She then went on to earn a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and a Masters in Elementary Education Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix.

Prior to becoming an MVCS sixth grade teacher, Mrs. Heistermann taught fourth and eighth-grade algebra and physical science at St. Junipero Serra Catholic School.  After having her first child, she transitioned to an online school and taught fifth through eighth-grade math and science.  She has over sixteen years of teaching experience and most recently worked at an independent study charter school where she partnered with parents to help create individualized learning plans for students in grades TK-12.

Her favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight." She finds comfort in this verse knowing that God has a plan for her, far greater than she can imagine.

Mrs. Heistermann met her husband, Chad while playing on a co-ed adult dodgeball team. They have been happily married since 2008, and have four children together: Cole (10), Paige (8), Chase (6), and Cody (3).  Outside of work, she loves to be active and play sports. Although now, most of the time she's watching her kids play sports! She also enjoys reading, swimming, working out, and spending time with her family and their rescue pup Brownie.
