Expected School–Wide Learning Results ESLR
During the Mission Viejo Christian School accreditation process by ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) and WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) the school was required to establish major objectives that our students should fulfill by the time their experience at Mission Viejo Christian School was completed. These are those objectives:
Mission Viejo Christian School Will Prepare Students To Develop Academically by learning to:
- Communicate Effectively:
- Students will be able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written language. They will:
- Speak clearly and concisely in various settings.
- Listen objectively.
- Write with a command of the grammatical, mechanical, and usage conventions of composition.
- Demonstrate competence in general skills and strategies of the writing process.
- Use a wide variety of media and formats to communicate information and ideas.
- Think Critically:
- Students will acquire critical thinking skills, which will enable them to utilize their higher level reasoning abilities. They will:
- Read critically.
- Analyze, evaluate, and synthesize information.
- Demonstrate logical and effective decision-making skills.
- Develop problem solving strategies and skills.
- Become Self–Directed Learners:
- Students will accept personal responsibility for the learning process. They will:
- Be able to access and assess information effectively from a variety of sources.
- Practice good study skills.
- Demonstrate ability to read, write and use mathematical reasoning.
Mission Viejo Christian School Will Prepare Students To Develop Spiritually by:
- Becoming individuals who love God:
- Students will grow in their knowledge of Jesus Christ, which leads to a personal relationship through faith in Jesus Christ. They will:
- Accept Jesus Christ: Belief (John 3:16)
- Repentance (Luke 13:3); Confession (Romans 10:9-10)
- Baptism (Acts 2:38, 1Peter 3:21)
- Establish a daily devotional time that includes Bible reading and prayer.
- Demonstrate respect for God and others.
- Grow spiritually through fellowship with other believers.
- Be able to express and defend their faith.
- Apply Biblical principles to real life, personal moral choices.
- Develop Socially & Emotionally by:
- Developing respectful and caring interpersonal relationships within and across all cultures. They will:
- Accept themselves and others as beings created in God’s image and evidenced by their words and actions.
- Work collaboratively by functioning positively in various group roles.
- Resolve conflicts through mutual respect and compromise (Matthew 18:15 principle) and forgiveness (Col 3:13).
- Learn to effectively deal with stress by using time management techniques and developing a balanced life approach.
- Become responsible citizens.
- Develop Socially & Emotionally by:
- Developing respectful and caring interpersonal relationships within and across all cultures. They will:

- Learning to value health and fitness:
- Students will understand the need to develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle. They will:
- Treat their body with respect as the temple of the Holy Spirit.
- Understand and practice the concepts of health, physical fitness, personal hygiene, and nutrition.
- Exercise their fine and gross motor skills according to their individual readiness.
